Except for a pair of capitals (Ottawa and Quebec City), the closest city to Montreal is Boston. The proximity and the similar values and life style of New Englanders make Boston a very welcoming place for us Eastern Canadians. It is also a symbol of excellence and a fierce competitor. After all, McGill, no more baseball team, the Allouettes, and the St Lawrence River are not the best rivals for Harvard, the RedSox, the Patriots and the Atlantic Ocean...
But many people here will tell you that hockey is what counts :)... and when it comes to our national sport, the Bruins can't do anything against our Canadiens!
